Call it Silent Hill 5 or Homecoming. In any case, this has been one of the most anticipated games of the year, and though some might have been disappointed, the game actually delivered its promise of great horror and spookiness.
The story follows Alex Shepard, an ex-soldier who's eager to get back home. Little does he know, "home" won't ever be the same. Fog, mystery, and madness await in this largely uninviting place. Spiteful creatures will scare the crap out of you, and the overall sense of discomfort will create the perfect setting for a dark Halloween night. Can you handle it?
BioShock was probably the most successful game of 2007. As such, 2K Games has decided to give PS3 owners the opportunity to enjoy this jewel, which was the right thing to do, because the PS3 finally seems to be making its way up.
The game takes you back to 1960 and follows the misadventures of a plane crash survivor. Jack finds himself stranded and, soon enough, he comes across the entrance to the secret, underwater city of Rapture. This place is run down and taken over by insanity. Therefore, Jack will have to make his way through the empty hallways with just a few tools in hand. Little by little, he'll become stronger and acquire special powers that will help him in the task of survival. BioShock presents absolutely eerie environments inspired by Art Deco architecture and design, lots of gore, scary characters, creepy voice work, and the perfect mid-20th Century tunes to set the mood.
If BioShock was the best game of 2007, something tells me Dead Space will be the biggest hit of 08. The game follows the exploits of Engineer Isaac Clarke and a couple key crew members of the USG Killion. This space ship is called in for repair of the USG Ishimura, but what they find at the end of the tunnel is more than a "broken" ship.
The entire crew has been attacked by some sort of evil virus that has managed to transform humans into horribly disfigured Necromorphs. Strategic dismemberment is one of the keys for survival in this game. Not only will it provide an authentic cinematic experience, but it'll also take some skill to defeat those walking corpses. Incredible visuals, practically flawless shooting controls, unexpected attacks, and hair-pulling situations throughout make Dead Space our number one choice for this Halloween. If you want to know more, you'll have to explore the game on your own!
