Top Ten Games We Want Announced

4. Final Fantasy VII Remake

Final Fantasy VII is one of the most beloved RPGs ever released. This high budget game introduced many PlayStation owners to their first taste of role-playing. Square has been teasing gamers with hints of a remake for a long time, talking about it before reneging and saying it is never going to happen. Square does like to repackage their old titles, but gamers have been rabidly awaiting an update to one of the most popular RPGs ever made.

3. Grand Theft Auto V

It’s almost time for the bad boy of the gaming industry to make another appearance. Rockstar made a masterpiece with Red Dead Redemption, and perhaps its time to apply their skills to the next iteration of GTA. Of course, if there’s anything we learned with the GTA IV, it’s that fans like the quirkiness of San Andreas over the seriousness of GTA IV, so perhaps we’ll get another time specific piece. GTA is usually about the location, so maybe we’ll see a return to Vice City set further in the past, or San Andreas, or some completely new location. Whatever the choice, gamers are ready for a return to the premier crime-infested sandbox.

2. Metal Gear Solid 5

Snake is undeniably one of the coolest characters in gaming. He’s been around longer than Master Chief, Sam Fisher, and all the soldiers in Call of Duty. While we do have Metal Gear Solid: Rising on the horizon, a new and regular Metal Gear game has been guaranteed since the original stunned gamers on the original PlayStation. We’ve seen the adventures of Naked Snake on the PSP, but Solid Snake is an iconic figure in gaming. It would be a shame to let too many years go by without a new tale from the original stealth action hero.

1. Chrono Trigger sequel

Chrono Trigger graces the tops of many greatest games of all time lists. There is little left to be said that hasn’t been said about it before. Chrono Trigger had an incredible cast of characters, a deep storyline involving time travel, turn-based gameplay, fun side quests, and a bunch of different endings. Imagine a new Chrono Trigger with time travel that affected actions, taking a cue from cause-effect relationships in games like Fallout 3. Include a morality system that allows the player to interact with the past and future to manipulate outcomes. Finally, with great HD visuals and a ton of recruitable characters, a correctly done sequel to Chrono Trigger could be a deep, rewarding RPG experience.

Half Life 3 (Episode 3)

We’ve been calmly awaiting the next episode of Half Life for quite a while. Maybe we should cross our fingers and just hope for another full sequel to Half Life. Either idea is probably a long ways off.

Shenmue 3

While thousands of gamers still wish nightly for the sequel to the unfinished tale of Ryo Hazuki, it is unlikely to happen. The more time passes, the fewer gamers we have actually familiar with the cliffhanger end to the second game, which means fewer people desiring a proper sequel. We’ll just have to settle for fan fiction and Shenmue Online.
