The remastered Doom 3 is the real reason to buy this collection, but even if you're not all that interested in it, the fact that this edition also comes with Doom, Doom 2, the Doom 3 'Resurrection of Evil' expansion, and the brand new 'The Lost Mission' story makes this the premier collection for any Doom fan. I doubt the multiplayer will have legs, but if it does, there's that as well. The Lost Mission quests include seven all-new single-player levels—think of them as deleted scenes, as opposed to an expansion—and an original storyline, so even if you've played the game, there's something for everyone here.

I have a few minor issues that I would've liked to see patched up in this version, but weren't. The controls needed an update, or at the very least I could've used a dedicated melee button. There are some randomly placed loading screens that like to pop up when you're in the middle of getting from point A to point B. At least put a door where the game needs to load so I'm not stopped dead in my tracks so the game can catch up. I would've also liked to see the console interaction improved, because awkwardly manipulating the arrow to the 'download' icon on the screen is clunky and wastes valuable seconds I could be spending ogling the gorgeous new visuals.
This is very obviously a teaser for Doom 4. This collection is a little something for fans to whet their appetites with in preparation for id's long-awaited reveal of the long-in-development fourth installment. With that said, this is one of the best HD re-releases I've played so far. You won't confuse this with any recently released games, but outside of some obvious trademarks of the previous generation of games (such as an overall lack of detail on the characters and world), this is a stunning game.
