Ape Escape: Million Monkeys Review / Preview for PlayStation 2 (PS2)

If a dozen monkeys are fun, a few dozen monkeys must be more fun…but what about one million monkeys? Nevermind the fun, think of the smell! by Vaughn Smith

March 21, 2006 – Sony recently announced the impending arrival of Ape Escape: Million Monkeys to be released sometime this Spring in Japan. Without question North American gamers can look forward to more monkeyshines when this title is released later in the Fall.

From the looks of the high res screenshots you’d be forgiven if you thought the apes were going to be running loose on the PS3. That’s definitely not the case and you can expect the final product to not look quite as shiny and clean. However Ape Escape fans will notice that the art style has changed and now features more realistic backgrounds and character cel-shading. It also rumored that the levels will feature depictions of real-world cities such as Shinjuku, Japan. I’ll just have to take the rumors word for it, having never visited Shinjuku. With all of those damn monkeys tearing up the place with tanks and light sabers, I’m not in any rush to go there either.

As soon as more info escapes, we’ll capture it, put it in a cage and write all about it.
