The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - X360/PC

Bethesda and 2K Games scored bigtime with Oblivion which had a development cycle of 4 years. Exploring the 23 square miles of game world at their leisure, players can play the game as they desire - either diving right into the main story or dilly-dallying with the game's countless side-quests. The "Radiant AI" developed for Oblivion which allows for NPC's to balance their needs against their wants and act on it accordingly, proved to be so realistic that Bethesda had to alter it - as it lead to many game-glitching moments where NPC's would murder important characters to get what they wanted. Oblivion will capture you and keep you held for months at a time.

Kingdom Hearts II - PS2

RPG fans who originally balked at the 2002 original, were lining up in droves in hopes of scoring a copy of the sequel when it was released in March of this year. Sora and co. were back in action, travelling through Disney-esque worlds and interacting with the colorful characters who inhabited them. Have we seen the last of Sora, Goofy, Donald and King Mickey? Let's hope not. With Pixar now part of the Disney family, hanging out with Buzz Lightyear, The Incredibles and Lightning McQueen would be too much fun to ignore!
